Team Event with a Queen

Hey Guys,

Yesterday at the APPT they held a Team Event. The entry was low and the tournament was clearly meant to be a fun social thing, and it was!

The Danish poker queen Pernille Ravn had asked me the day earlier if I wanted to play the team event with her, and this fantastic girl is not someone you turn down. Regardless of how bad you feel about you latest results. Pernille and I would probably make a good team her style is tighter than mine and this would prove to be a good combination for us.

Without every getting better hands than a pocket 66 when a guy was all in UTG, we managed to squeeze into 3rd place. We had to get luck along the way winning QJo over KK. Blinds 600-1200 and we only had 5K left I pushed when it was folded around to me and the button woke up with KK. We hit two pair on the flop and they held up. We never had AK or a pair bigger than 6's, needless to say our stack never got over avg. in the hole tournament. We won 1 coin flip KsQs against 88, and survived 3 All-ins being the favorite. And finally got knocked out when I was forced to call with A8o from SB with only 25K stack and 3k-6K blinds. It was a race A8o vs. 66 unfortunately we didn't survive this hand, but we got a very respectable 3rd place finish.
